Call or email asking for your full PIN or online password
Ask you to email or text personal or financial information unnecessarily
Email you a link to a page which asks for your login details
Send someone to your home to collect information or cash, or to offer investment opportunities
Ask you to carry out a test transaction online

Offer investment services through any app other than our own official EVS website
Ask you to authorise the transfer of funds to a third party or to hand over cash
Pressure you to make a financial decision quickly or reveal confidential information
Send you emails you’ve not asked for - we know your marketing preferences.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO BE SAFE

Choose secure passwords/passphrases
A secure password helps keeps you safe online. It also helps us identify you when you log in as part of our multi-factor authentication process. The key to your password being secure is it's strength and memorability.

Never use your PIN, name in any form (first, middle, last, maiden or nickname) and / or date of birth as your password.
Putting together a few words or phrases makes a longer password that can be easier to remember.
Use a combination of letters, numbers and special characters. Using less common special characters will help strengthen your password.
Change your password regularly. There’s no set rule on this, but the more frequent the better

Keep your devices updated with the latest security patches and system software to guard against evolving threats.

Keep your antivirus software updated to reduce the risk of malicious software and viruses being installed on your computer.

Your home router is your online front door allowing your devices to connect to the internet, so it's important that you ensure it remains secure. One of the keyway to protect your router is to change the default admin password as the one set by the manufacturer can be easily discovered by Hackers.

The following are some security tools and techniques;

2FA (provided by Google Auth) to ensure account security and prevent any unauthorised access to user’s account.
Cold storage of digital assets with Multisignature technology
Hardware security modules with rating of FIPS PUB 140-2 Level 3 or higher
Full risk check after every order placement and execution
Encrypted SSL (https) to encrypt and secure our website’s traffic.
All passwords are cryptographically hashed (using bcrypt with a cost factor of 12) while all
other sensitive data is encrypted.
Cloudfare to mitigate potential distributed denial-of-service (“DDoS”) attacks.
Regular tests and check-ups by our technical team.
On-going and IT security assessments are executed to keep up to date with new potential
vulnerabilities.
A padlock appears at the start of our address when you log in to show that it is a secure
connection to our website. However, a padlock should not be the only check you make to confirm a website's legitimacy (Fraudsters have found ways of faking the padlock appearance).
EVS automatically logs you off if you're inactive for a while. We'll also temporarily lock your log

If you haven't visited a website before, spend some time investigating the 'About Us' section. If it contains poorly written English this could be a red flag. You can also check the website's authenticity by researching it using a search engine, an established customer or business review website.

Wallet Security

The majority of customer digital assets (Bitcoin) are held in our offline storage system (“Cold Storage”). Only a small portion of digital assets are held in our online wallet (“Hot Wallet”).

We use Multi-signature access (“Multisig”) to provide both security against attacks and tolerance for losing access to a key or facility, eliminating single points of failure. All fund transfers from Cold Storage to Hot Wallets are handled manually and require the coordinated actions of multiple employees.
